We just didn’t have time to see it on this recent trip and I want to go back - it’s definitely an experience! I also wanted to see the Tulip Stairs in the Queen’s House but that bit was closed for a wedding.
Really enjoyed this! I don’t know much about Vanbrugh’s architecture, but we studied The Relapse at school and I still laugh to myself at some of the jokes.
On another note, I have tried to message you through your website about your proposal
Hello Mathew, Thank you for the kind comments! Yes, I also love The Relapse - I do think it’s his best play - better than The Provoked Wife (although the latter was enduringly popular). I’m sorry about my website - I’ve had problems with the form which I thought I had solved - it doesn’t look like your message has come through though. If I could trouble you to send it again to annetterubery [at] gmail.com it would be great to hear from you.
Yes - there‘a a regular water bus service - Thames Clipper. Best way is to get the bus to the stop after Greenwich (North Greenwich) and come back so you can get the full effect of Wren’s building.
The Painted Hall is truly magnificent. Like you, I was not prepared when I stepped into it.

No problem! Have just emailed you
So how would you recommend seeing this building from the Thames? Is there a water bus service?
